Welcome to our conversation with the illustrator of Canada designer, illustrator and teacher of creative arts Maia Faddoul. Maia is an early-generation Canadian artist, who works out of the Montreal studio. Her work is vibrant and vivid illustrations for editorials, packaging, and much more. Her style is high-contrast, colorful, and bold and often has a subdued message of social justice hidden within.

Maia is a complete color lover as well as being a little of a neo-maximalist artistic style. Maia utilizes her work to share her views, express her opinion, call attention on injustices, and draw the spotlight to causes that mean for her. I think of my design style as "High Contrast'.

My aesthetic is vivid often high-contrast, vibrant and vivid but with a subtle social-justice message in there. I'm a total color enthusiast and also a bit of a minimalist with regards to my style of art.

What's the primary in creating your illustration?

One of the main aspects of my practice is to create art work which reflects my values and values. My character isn't exactly an outgoing, outgoing person, and so I frequently use my work as a means to express my thoughts, voice my opinions, discuss injustices, and raise awareness for causes that matter to me.

Digital Drawing Classes

Maia employs the drawing tablet along with Procreate to make digital portraits. In her Drawing Expressionist Portraits using Procreate course, she walks you through the steps of making vibrant, vivid, and striking portraits.

I'm a first-generation Canadian artist working as an illustrator and a designer in the Montreal Studio. After pursuing both illustration and design at university and in the college system I'm now working across a range of industries employing both streams of expertise in order to produce vibrant and clear pictures for editorials, packaging and publications, to name a few.
