In the calculation of MRR, ARR and MRR

Prior to this upgrade, downgrades as well as add-ons, were sometimes not properly tracked or reported in subscription reporting. This issue has been fixed, and now calculations will improve in the coming years.

What are the changes I should see In My Store?

If you're an avid use of upgrades, downgrades or additional features You may notice that you MRR and ARR change little due to the new calculation. These calculations are more accurate as compared to previous reports with the fixes that have been identified. If you are still unsure you can contact us at [email protected].

Historic MRR Changes

Previously, we used to use the deactivation date to check on the date of cancellation before removing MRR contributions, which had the unintended side effect of altering historical MRR value. To solve this the issue, we've updated our analytical tools to detect cancellation events that occur on the day that cancellation occurs and take away MRR contribution on that day.

Example of Changes

Let's consider an example of an annual subscription activated in January 2023, canceled in May 2023, later deactivated in the month of December 2023. In our previous MRR contribution calculation wouldn't have changed until the end of December 2023. This could have altered the MRR contribution during the time from May through December 2023.

In the present, using the dates in the above example, our calculation immediately eliminates the MRR contribution to the account beginning with the cancellation date in 2023, which is May, resulting in a more accurate MRR Change calculation.

What changes should I expect to see In My Store?

For some sellers, this might result in an increase in cancellation counts and lower MRRs for subscribers and customers who are active. If you have questions about the reporting process, feel free to contact us at [email protected].
