Passive is Passe: Designing and Creating Online Courses Requires Active Involvement
In the majority of service-based companies, passive and leveraged income-generating products can be a wonderful idea. However, there's an array of psychological and mental concerns that may arise while stepping into this realm. There's a misguided belief that passive income is the best type of income. Sure, you get to make money in your sleep and you get to go for a stroll on the beach. You're right, but you don't need to market it to me.
But what if you ACTUALLY consider the clients that are buying your product? How would you feel if you weren't adamant about going off to the beach, but instead you would prefer to stick around, hold a few hands, respond to questions, and genuinely SUPPORT your customers through the program?
Does that make you the wrong professional?
Is that a sign that you're justleveraging but making no passive income, and therefore it's a failure?
Absolutely NOT AT ALL.
We're here to inform you that leveraged is the new black.
Additionally the passive income, it is also a huge part of this year.
Online course creators who are successful stay connected to their customers
Gorgeous, heart-centered entrepreneurs are creating BRILLIANT leveraged programs, and staying CONNECTED to their tribe - and people are LOVING them for it.
In a world where your customers have ALREADY registered for hundreds of programs online, never to complete their studies, a self-study programme will be merely white noise.
We live in a time where we are SICK of being pushed through automated funnels, lead generators, and in essence, forced to go through hoops to find out how much cash you'd like and then how much you can pay it to you the online buyer is pushing away. Refusing. Deciding to wait until they are able to work on a one-on-one basis or participate in a high-touch group program that involves LOTS of face-to-face time.
for creators of connected courses for connected course creators, this can be GREAT news.
Personally, I don't consider it in my genes to create true passive income. My first ever real product that was passive in income was a yearly planner for entrepreneurs and was just $19.98. When I first launched it I sold 170 copies, which was amazing. Then, I began sending out emails and messages to customers who purchased it to make sure that they had filled it out and to see if they found it helpful, to provide tips on how to keep it going all through the year.
This was not an investment product with a passive income. It was a fact that I had a long time chasing the people who bought it to find out what they thought and help them use it!
Fast forward one year and I launched the Heart and Soul planner again at the end of 2015. It was this time with two live group workshops: One where I walked all participants through the page through the pages, asking questions and giving recommendations, as well as a third workshop where I helped people to create their own strategy for implementation to ensure the planner didn't turn into a dust-catcher.
By turning my passive product into one that could be leveraged, I discovered several benefits for both buyer and seller alike:
- I felt more CONNECTED to the people who purchased and I could ensure people were getting excellent value. This was wonderful for me, and good for them.
- I came up with a TRIBE. it was a live call together, and participants were interacting with one other, cheering each other on and providing suggestions and ideas. There was no divide and conquer - instead, the goal was to unify and connect.
- People were able to KNOW me - and therefore, my KLT (know, like, trust) rating soared.
- The CONVERSION into higher product was awe-inspiring - on the 256 ladies who bought at this point, three have become VIP customers, 14 joined one of my courses, and at the very least twenty have signed up to my business academy only in six short months. The conversion will continue all through the year, I am sure.
When you're planning and scheming the next course, program or product, think about giving idea of creating something that is more energised, as well as not as passive. Sure, you might have to be present at be more consistent in your efforts.
But you never know it is possible to discover that you enjoy it.
