Don't overwhelm your students by imposing too much on them at once or letting them run ahead. Dripping lets you present your material in manageable chunks and keep your students interested and looking forward to what's coming up next.

The new feature is constantly evolving to meet the needs of your students, making it easier than ever to structure and manage your online course content.

What exactly is Course Content Dripping?

We've all had those moments... binge-watching an entire television series in the span of a weekend, spending late at night flipping the pages of a novel, or suddenly realizing that you've eaten a whole sleeve of chocolate chip cookies... completely on your own ().

While indulging in something enjoyable can be satisfying initially however, we often end up with a feeling of being unfulfilled.

Learning can be the same way. If students absorb excessive amounts of information at once this can result in:

  • Anxiety: Worrying they missed something important or made mistakes.
  • regret: Wishing they had been patient enough to grasp the subject.
  • Doubts: Questioning if they really understood the text.
  • Insanity: You feel overwhelmed by too much information at once.

These aren't feelings you want your students to experience after completing your course.

That's where course the content drips in!

Instead of giving students everything in one go, teaching content drips allow you to release material in well-timed intervals. This helps students learn more slowly with each class, remain engaged and learn better.

What Differences Will Content Dripping Create for Your Class?

1. Create Knowledge A Step at a Time

Instead of providing students with access to all the information at the same time, Dripping releases each lesson or module in a particular arrangement, helping them develop their understanding gradually.

This step-by-step method helps students develop a sense of progress and achievement as they move through the curriculum.

Also, think of your class as a literal staircase every step is an entirely new concept. It is essential that students learn the basics before they move on to the following. This ensures they have a solid understanding of the fundamentals before moving on to more advanced concepts.

2. Maintain Students' Interest and Motivated

When students know the new material is being added regularly, it builds anticipation and interest. The anticipation helps keep them interested because they're constantly waiting for the next module or lesson.

They get used to setting aside time for each lesson. This will increase the chance that they'll remain connected and committed to the program from beginning until end.

3. Deliver Content at Just the Right Moment

Dripping of course content gives the full freedom to choose the time and manner in which the lessons are published, aligning them perfectly with your course program.

If you're trying to introduce a difficult concept that requires additional attention or getting ready for an project that will take longer, content dripping allows you to alter the presentation of your content to satisfy the needs of both your students as well as your course goal.

4. Help Everyone Learn at the Same Time

Course content dripping is an effective way to keep all your students moving forward in a consistent manner and ensure that no student advances too quickly or is left in the middle.

In releasing information at scheduled intervals, you can create an atmosphere of education that's cohesive, in which everyone is advancing together.

Additionally, with everyone working together, you will be able to easily identify and address any areas where students might require additional help, and ensure that no student falls through the cracks.

5. Help to Make Learning meaningful and manageable

Learning should be something students enjoy, not an overwhelming process. When all course material is presented at once, it can create unnecessary stress and anxiety.

Dripping course content offers an easier learning experience for students with lessons delivered in smaller, more manageable pieces.

Instead of being pressured to learn everything all at once learners can process the information in a relaxed speed, which makes the learning process feel more personal and accessible.

By spacing out the content and allowing for a few moments of achievement to your students after they finish each section. It helps to maintain the students' enthusiasm, and keep students motivated to keep learning.

In short, course drips are a highly effective method that helps keep your students engaged, focused and on track. It's an easy and efficient method to change the method you present your courses, making learning an enjoyable experience for all those involved.

It is also possible to modify drip notifications within the settings. This makes it simple to inform your students on when the next content release is scheduled to be released. This helps manage expectations and keeps everyone in the same place.

By taking care of all the technical details We've allowed you to focus on what is important: creating the best courses.

How do I Set-Up Course Content Dripping in the Courses

When your students begin rushing ahead, let's organize your course content to keep them on pace and fully engaged with the lesson at hand.

As we mentioned a little bit ago, Courses uses Rules for powering content drip.

This means that any drip settings applied through Rules could conflict with built-in dripping options in your course's setting.

So...

  • To provide a simplified, hassle-free experience: If you want your courses to automatically deliver content on the set timeframe (like weekly releases of new content each week) the built-in drip feature is the most efficient choice. It simplifies the process and ensures a consistent supply without requiring any additional configuration.
  • For more personalized control: If you need the ability to publish content in irregular or extremely customized time intervals, Rules allows you to control that. But, it takes a bit more time and effort to set up the additional Rules.

Make it Simple: Let's Get Your Drip Content Flowing Smoothly!

To set up course content dripping, start by switching off the "Enable Dripping" option in your course's settings.

In the next step, you'll have to define how content is to be distributed, either in a section or by individual items. You may also choose the time frame (daily daily, weekly or even monthly) and choose the start date and the time zone for every content release.
