Minimalist collages - The CreativeMindClass Blog

Mar 16, 2022

On Sunday afternoon I accidentally was able to catch Olga sharing Instagram posts about my neighborhood from childhood. In the middle of Warsaw's concrete jungle is an undiscovered, revered green zone. I used to go there during the summer months to gaze at beautiful old pine trees and breathe in the fresh air of fresh air in my urban lungs. In her account, Olga visited this area for the first time but she was also captivated by one of the most beautiful gardens in Warsaw. And I bet that soon she will create an inspired Boernerowo painting.

We asked Olga about her process for making her minimal collages and paintings of human-shaped landscapes

"My Name is Olga Szczechowska, and I'm living in Warsaw. From the time I was a child, I've always been painting and drawing often. I went to an art school in high school. I also studied Drawing as well as Cultural Studies at the University of Nicolaus Copernicus in Torun.

I'm an illustrator, painter occasionally a graphic designer. Through my work, I concentrate on the connection between humankind and nature by closely observing how we shape the natural world around us. When I look at hedges that have been trimmed or decorative plants as well as well-designed home gardens I'm trying to capture the mysterious environment that surrounds us."

"For some time, I've made simple collages. The compositions are in the form of landscapes and still life, or are developed as a result from experiments with shapes, textures as well as colours.

My work is diverse as collages and painting are very different, but they do have something in common: they are soothing. I've heard the term "soothing" repeatedly from my viewers and believe that it is an accurate description of the essence of my art. When I'm tired of painting, I make collages, and vice versa. One style is a temporary escape from the one.

I think observation is key. I pay attention to everything around me: nature, architecture, and objects. This is evident in my artwork. My artworks do not see a human , however, we are able to feel the humans in the hedges that are trimmed or even in the mug that is left on the table."
