Creativity runs in the family for artist and illustrator Kentaro Yoshida. His mother, also an artist, has been an influential influence on his work--even when she wasn't entirely on board of his professional choices. "First she was not a fan of me being a full-time artist. She probably knew that it was difficult because of her own experience. It was a challenge, but I did give it a try and fortunately did not fail," Kentaro says. "She is certainly the greatest inspiration to me."

Kentaro was born in a rural fishing village in Toyama, Japan, but moved to Australia aged 18 where he now lives in Sydney. Since that move has led to a lucrative full-time freelance career as an artist, selling paintings, prints and custom murals and surfboards, and collaboration with top brands and musicians.

Read on to learn the process by which Kentaro created his distinctive art style, and how his website has grown with him over the last decade to further support his art work and reflect his unique personality.
