Five Reasons to Join Our New Slack Community: Global SaaS Leadership -

Mar 23, 2022

The short version of this article reads like this:

  • The company has just announced a fresh (free!) Slack community: Global SaaS Leaders.
  • It's open to leaders at established SaaS and software companies (including founders! ).

Why we're starting a free Slack group

Because community is awesome!

No, seriously.

There are many additional SaaS and software-based communities there. Many of them are great.

When we began to think about making the type of community that uslike to be part of, we saw the opportunity to make something brand new.

We have created Global SaaS Leaders as a place with five distinctive characteristics:

1. Global Focus

There were many SaaS and software-based communities that were U.S.-based or that were based on a particular location.

Global SaaS Leaders will be diverse. could be somewhere in the U.S., but our customers and the broader SaaS community span throughout the world..

As we grow our community, we'll be conscious of establishing a broad member base and global view.

2. Designed for leaders from established SaaS and software companies

The most interesting software chats we came across on the web were around starting the first SaaS company:

Discussions like this are beneficial for those trying to get started building the foundation of a SaaS.

With that said, we observed that it is quite difficult to find helpful dialogue between executives from well-established SaaS and software companies.

It's the reason we've decided to establish the community of SaaS leaders thinking about growing and scaling an established software business, not building minimum feasible products or seeking seed funding.

If you're a lifestyle entrepreneur that has a self-funded SaaS already doing $10,000 a month, we'd love to help you connect with other entrepreneurs similar to you.

The same applies if you're the development director at a venture-backed company that recently crossed the $10 million mark a year.

We will focus on that in Global SaaS Leaders: to make a place in which you can discuss the challenges unique to your business once you have reached the point of product-market-fit and then begin to scale.

3. Professionally moderated

It requires a committed and skilled moderator (or group of moderators!) to create a positive, friendly culture in a group.

There's a lot we've learned by observing the Reddit community r/entrepreneur, for instance.

Yet even the most reputable communities such as this can struggle to the focus. It's telling that the top. 1 thread this year is an argumentative post on how cryptocurrency has been overwhelming the feed:

Katie Stephan and Nathan Collier (authors of this article!) will be the first moderators when we start the Global SaaS Leaders community.

Collectively, we've spent over a decade managing online communities that have hundreds of users.

and the creation and launch of this community is part of our job descriptions.

Our focus will be on SaaS as well as software and we'll make sure there's no need to deal with spam, unsolicited offers Personal attacks, trolling of any sort.

4. It is not solely focused on venture capital or funding rounds.

No matter what your situation is, we don't care. bootstrapped, venture-funded, private-equity backed, or any other ownership model.

The world's SaaS Leaders won't be a location that focuses on funding rounds or exit strategies.

Instead, we hope to provide a space that you can engage in discussions about revenue, hiring profits, tools price models, technology infrastructure, as well as anything that is related to building an effective software company.

It's okay for members to occasionally have discussions about financing. But it won't be the sole discussion.

5. The most helpful SaaS and software community anywhere on the internet.

Certain online communities can be dangerous areas.

No matter who you are, no matter where you're from and what your background, we want you to feel at ease posting and engaging in our online community.

Katie me and Katie will try what that we can to cultivate a positive, supportive culture in this new community. And we won't tolerate the personal attack, bigotry discrimination based on gender, race, or any other disrespectful behavior.

Our target is no less than this: to create the most supportive SaaS and software-based community on the web.
