Five essential takeaways gained from WooConf Five essential lessons learned from WooConf
Between April 6-8 between April 6 and 8, hundreds of proprietors of stores, developers, and ninjas descended upon Austin, Texas to do only one thing: eat tacos.
We'll say two things: eat tacos and acknowledge the highest-ranked eCommerce platform at the 2nd annual Conference (or how we affectionately refer to it, WooConf).
There's been a great deal of news reports about WooConf 2016 as well because in the coming days we'll plan to make the event even more accessible, with video and slides from speaker sessions. As you wait, we thought it would be nice to offer attendees a look at what we learned from the event and in particular our top five lessons gained from the experience.
Explore the site for a peek at the behind-the-scenes of our upcoming WooConf and also to discover what themes came up in the talks of our speakers this year.
The purpose of WooConf
The guests we received to WooConf 2016 with three primary goals: learn how to grow, and lastly make an offer.
The other one was created to provide the store's owners and developers the chance to learn more about their chosen platform within a setting that is unique and in the company of enthusiasts and experts alike. Additionally, we want to give all attendees the chance to expand their horizons and make new acquaintances and colleagues, be it through engaging with the (awesome!) sponsors or by interacting with fellow participants.
To meet these objectives, we offered attendees of WooConf two full days of programming and an additional day of choice of workshops and networking lunch. There was also an afterparty, Happy Hour and an evening party! Everybody had ample opportunities to get together, meet new people and relax.
It is possible to get the straightforward highlights of the first day's events on this page as well as the day 2 highlights on this page.
Based on the countless reviews we've received (and we'll get many more) It seems that every person learned something unique from WooConf. For those who weren't present or unable to attend every talk or require a short summary, here's the top lessons we learned from the presenters..
Most important to remember is that your top method shouldn't necessarily be your only routine.
It's something we've stated in our blog many time: it's not only to follow what's been said to be most effective, but instead taking the most efficient approach for your retail store, your customers and your growth.
We were delighted to hear the same statement repeated by our impressive presenters. Actually, it was highlighted in the very first talk given by Peep Laja from ConversionXL.
Peep published lists commonly found on the internet of most effective practices for conversion optimization along with A/B test as well as informed the general public that just because they are commonplace doesn't suggest they're not beneficial for you.

Peep pointed out the importance of formulating a plan to ensure that your business runs smoothly. personal firm. Instead of experimenting with different optimizations that are based on online recommendations, find the areas that affect your business and experiment with different options until you can discover the most effective solution.

The same message was repeated by a variety of speakers, all who highlighted the need to explore ways to run your business in accordance with the circumstances. It was exciting to hear numerous experts focus on the issue, and it is our personal opinion on our website in the span of several months.
The emphasis on the best design spills over into the personalization aspect, something we've heard frequently in conversations. However, we'll come to it in a few minutes.
Emphasizing "helping" over "selling"
If you're a retailer or developer, your main goal is to make money. The method that you employ to earn it isn't so simple as opening a shop or saying "sure it's possible to manage it."
One of the way to do this was by using those who focused on the importance of providing value to customers instead of simply attempting to sell them an item. The emphasis was on creating value and not just offering an item. This was a significant change in mindset.
The idea was spotted at the time of Miracle Wanzo's presentation about Facebook advertising. She discussed ways in which advertising that is paid to create discussions can yield more. As she put it that when you've created an appealing ad, you'll get higher views on social media that will give you "more profits for your money."
The principal theme for Matt White's talk appropriately was "Stop selling. Start by helping." Matt said salespeople are potential customers to harmless gazelles. Matt discussed the way that the prey-sales method of sales could deter potential buyers from buying.
Matt stressed the need to assist potential clients rather than sending them a negative message that is a turnoff for them. There are many possibilities to assist them, as you probably know the possibility of providing valuable website information or perhaps something that is more entertaining such as live webinars.
Also, he shared an amusing detail about cold-calling as well as the reasons it's gone out of style:

In the same way, we also enjoyed the talk given of WP Engine CEO Heather Brunner's talk on the importance of personalizing the web pages' content. Heather posted the following extremely entertaining story about the Nordstrom website trying to figure out what type of clothes she'd like, and then getting it wrong.
The lesson that needs to learn: clients want to be 100% support, and if you're unable to offer this, then do not even bother.

It's impossible to do all things, so focus only on what has the most impact.
If you're the manager of a store it's impossible to do everything. You may wish to be able to handle everything, but the truth is that you have to pick and choose what's going make the greatest impact on your business, and then concentrate only on a specific area of the company that you'd like to concentrate on.
A few of our skilled speakers shared their suggestions on how you can determine the events that are best for your business and even ways to make the most impression with just one thing.
We were able to hear Dustin Stout talk about this in a conversation with store owners in the field of social media and content. Instead of selecting any social network, or marketing technique and putting funds into them, Dustin said to choose only one or two to "go in depth" regarding the topic.

In the following talk, Drew Sanocki suggested to the audience adopt the strategy of focusing on their "whales" (that are the clients who generate the most revenue and push your company to new heights. When you determine the sources these customers are coming from, you will be able to expand these specific channels of marketing, which can save you the time and energy and energy elsewhere.

The subject was discussed as a method of analyzing the analytics. Beka Rice from SkyVerge talked about "analysis paralysis" regarding tracking analytics, and suggested that you work on improving and tackling certain store-specific measures simultaneously and follow up after you've finished.

More than "just an empty shopping cart"
Yes, it's the best selection of the majority of merchants compared to other ( BuiltWith now puts us at 37 percent) however it's not an appropriate idea to think of it as "just an extra store cart." or "one of the many options available for free. "
The good news is that many presenters were able to demonstrate the vast options, from workshops on subscriptions and membership websites as well as content marketing and more. It's hard to identify all possibilities!
There were developers such as Merrill Meyer, who specifically talked about ways to change the store to one-page websites. Merrill gave tips on how to transform the multi-page site into one page, and it's easy.
Kenn Kelly presented a presentation about the subject that is known as " Is it not (Only) an Shopping Cart." Kelly spoke about the amazing ways you can make using eCommerce, such as memberships. He also spoke about some potential future possibilities.

Kenn specifically referred to some changes that have been seen on websites like Amazon like"the" Dash Button He also discussed the inability to incorporate gamification into eCommerce. All of these are easily accessible... But we require assistance from the public to accomplish them.
Now we are at the end of our discussion.
The most important takeaways from all of it is the fact that we are capable of great things.
There are many developers and store owners using, modifying their products and services every day. Without your assistance.
Other important point to remember: If we put our minds to work during occasions like this, or using ideas boards found online, it's possible to achieve amazing results..
Our own Bryce Adams quickly arrived to show the possibilities of collaborative innovation in the talk that ended the first day's activities. Bryce was inspired to create interactions with physical objects after meetings with colleagues during WordCamp Mumbai in 2015, and showed that API webhooks and calls can accomplish anything, from lighting up LEDs, to flying drones.
Imagine what developers might think about developing this kind of technology. Printers that could be fired up upon demand and link the physical and virtual locations are just the beginning. We think Bryce might have offered certain attendees own suggestions!
WooConf in general is a good illustration of this concept. Throughout the entire event the store owners were gathering their minds with our amazing sponsors to brainstorm ideas on how they can improve their stores. Developers were sharing their knowledge about other developers. Ninjas were running a help desk online, helping to solve problems during the procedure of.
If we can collaborate, no matter whether we're developing the most recent version of or a complex solution for the online shop's functionality We'll find an idea that's truly amazing. This was evident at WooConf as a whole, since it offered a space for people to share knowledge and ideas, side-by-side as never before.
As I listened to a variety of individuals speak to me following the conclusion of school "I've acquired a lot of skills which my brain has flooded with knowledge!"
Do you want to join our next meeting? Be on the lookout for more WooConf information.
We're at this second WooConf for us and we're eager to go back next time. This conference wasn't just an opportunity to learn and meet new people. It was also a ton of enjoyment.
If you're interested in attending the next event, you can sign up to be updated on WooConf.com. We'll begin making announcements as we select a venue as well as a call for speakers and will then decide on our schedule. Our biggest concern is not to repeat the error repeatedly!
