Fantasy illustration The CreativeMindClass Blog

What would you say about the style you prefer?

It's somewhere between stylized and realistic illustration. I use a lot of muted and aquatic color palettes and prefer to use natural, fluid shapes. My "style" as a fantasy illustrator is heavily determined by my colors as well as the subjects I actually choose to paint however, not how it's painted. I used to work using a much more straight-line style , but recently I've changed to a more loose and more painterly style.

What are the most important factors in creating your fantasy art illustrations?

I'm constantly re-examining them until the image appears to be closest to what I envision it in my head (within reason, otherwise I'd devote months to a single painting). It's my goal to make my designs more complex to the limit and never settle for just a poor illustration. I'd prefer to take a long amount of time to get the perfect fantasy image than rush through it.

What are the best places to show your fantasies?

I'll be a part of the forthcoming "Oceans and Currents" exhibition on display at Gallery Nucleus in July! For now I'm via Instagram. I do sell prints through my store Bandcamp if anyone would be curious!

Additionally, I'm on YouTube and Bandcamp for those interested in my work, as I will release more tracks very shortly.

Brigitte's Background

I earned my diploma from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, and I am currently employed in the industry of entertainment arts as an illustrator and concept artist. Additionally, I am working on a artistic project, called Pearl Farm, for which I create illustrations. I also write as well as sing my own songs.

Illustrations for the article are taken of my own project Pearl Farm. This is my story that I wrote and follows a travelling singer named Vinny along with her pet ray Hubble as they make their way across the world called The Lofty Coastline.
