Looking for fresh challenges, and making a shift to the direction your career is heading

Prior to my move to London in the year 2017 I had lived in a small city located in Germany and also worked briefly in the role of an After Effects animator. Although there weren't many obstacles to my imagination and creativity but my ability to develop rapidly and I was very unhappy.

Moving into London and becoming acquainted with the amazing animation people here gave me a huge increase. The feeling was similar to "Damn it, I'm among the best now. You better get ready to put the best effort."

After my trip to the 2019 Pictoplasma conference, I decided to an effort to join the team of creative character designers. I realized quickly that my characters perform most efficiently when they're in 3D - - something that I'm still learning and can be difficult but extremely enjoyable!

My work caught the eye by Greenhouse Animation, that is currently representing me as Director for Greenhouse Animation.

About the X-Files project, as well as the mystery surrounding socks disappearing

One of the initial project for clients I developed with my brand new-found design style was the Covered by Lemonade clip.

Lemonade Insurance approached me to create a work of art to accompany their continuing Instagram art collaboration. As it's a content insurance company and the idea of cute everyday objects that are in danger came to mind. That's how the X-Files concept was born.

Last winter, I was locked in my room to binge-watch the entirety of the"x-files. Therefore, the idea of the classic film about alien abduction seemed obvious. However, all of the actors must be in the same spot for them to be in the same place in order to end the loop of animation for them to be abducted - this is why I was thinking of making the washer appear along with that single pink shoe dangling towards the UFO.

When I was creating my UFO in addition to giving it little legs, I noticed how everything can fall off. The UFO has gone missing its socks and has returned it!

I have observed that telling engaging stories can be accomplished through mixing various objects that are odd at first. In order to make something surprising happen , and also to give non-animate objects an identity, for example by adding funny faces onto them , is the ideal method of having fun for me!

The coverage will be provided by Lemonade from 2021.

The workflow for animation

The process of creating my work begins by drawing sketches of characters , and sketching out the plot. I edited the animation for Lemonade in order to communicate ideas and to establish the appropriate timing. Then, I dive into Cinema 4D and model all my characters. It is also the place where I experiment with techniques and create style frames.

Once the animation I created in Cinema 4D is done, I then transfer it into After Effects for compositing and finalizing details. Light beams with pink hues for instance it is created with After Effects.

about audio effects and how you can collaborate on audio effects, and how to work with Phill Brookes

This was my first time that I collaborated with a sound designer, Phil Brookes who really took it to the highest level! His input takes the footage to an entirely different level, and makes sure that everything comes together in a perfect way! This was a fantastic project to finish and I'm looking forward to working with him on a variety of other projects!

We've spoken to Phil regarding the process of producing sound effects to be used in The X-Files project. Watch Phil Brookes' interview.

Artists can seek guidance on how to make a career change

Here are some ideas for people who are looking to switch direction:

  1. Choose the method that fits your preferences best. Take time to learn it! Motion design might seem like you have to be aware of everything there is. It's actually not the case.
  2. You must be clear about being unique and don't be afraid to show your individuality. Your uniqueness is yours. Your voice, your unique style and design are unique.
  3. Accept your thoughts. What's happening in your mind  you can take in after which you can create your own!
