Tom began playing guitar during high school. It wasn't until after high school that he started earning extra money through his sweet talents.

He taught guitar in college to some of his friends. growing to include a wider variety of students.

After college, Tom spend 10 years working in banking sector. He began to get burnt out. The long hours and hard working were weighing on him, so he started seeking a different way to engage his passion.

    "I was looking to do something else with my life. It was by chance that I came across several websites for guitar lessons and thought, 'I could do it. '"

Then, he began looking at choices. An acquaintance in web design helped him put together the first guitar lessons online website.

Despite the challenges of recording classes in front of the camera, Tom did not give up and soon realized that the natural he was.

Back in '09 Tom moved the website to WordPress. Tom needed a stable platform that was easy to operate and also easy to maintain with new content. In that light he set out on a search for the perfect platform.

The successful transition is evident. In the moment of writing this blog post, TheGuitarLesson.com includes more than 300 lessons in video and growing.

All his effort was rewarded as Tom was able to quit financial institutions and go full steam in the direction of his membership site.

When he started off with his website, Tom states, "I didn't know anything about the web or internet stuff."

It's surprisingly easy to get started with only an understanding of the basics of WordPress.

After his migration to WordPress, Tom still needed the ability to join a community, and he was looking for a few essentials:

  • Control of the entire creative process
  • Quick uploads and regular updates
  • Choices for different membership levels

  • NO hidden fees

After a little research, he found that checked all of these boxes. Management of account and membership sales is essential to the organization as well, and Tom realized that there was no sense of settling for a half-hearted approach.

However, he wasn't able to make the conclusion without having a long trial time: "I tested all of the membership plugins available and found the one I liked that the one I chose to use was the most effective for quality and value."

Suddenly, he was free to spend time with his children and in pursuit of his interests. "That's priceless, basically."

It is priceless absolutely. As per Tom the author, it's pretty nice thing to be able to make "a regular, full-time earnings from helping others, and to be able to earn money doing the things I enjoy doing."

All of us should be as fortunate like Tom does, surely? to find what we love, and make a living doing it.
