Collage art The CreativeMindClass Blog
On Sunday afternoon I accidentally was able to catch Olga posting stories on Instagram of my neighborhood from childhood. Within Warsaw's concrete jungle is a less-known and sacred green area. I used to go there in summer time to gaze at gorgeous old pines and catch a breath of nature inside my urban lungs. In her tale, Olga visited this area on her first trip, however she was also fascinated by one of the longest backyards of Warsaw. It is my bet she'll paint a Boernerowo inspired painting.
We talked to Olga about the key to creating her minimalist collages and painting of landscapes that are human-shaped.
"My Name is Olga Szczechowska, and I'm living in Warsaw. Since I was a little child, I've always been drawing and painting plenty. I attended an art school in high school. I also took classes in Painting and Cultural Studies at the University of Nicolaus Copernicus in Torun.
I'm a designer, artist, and illustrator as well as graphic designer. My work is a concentrate on the connection between nature and humans, closely observing how we shape the environment in our backyards. Through observing trimmed hedges as well as decorative plants and meticulously designed home gardens I'm capturing the eerie environment that surrounds us."
"For many years, I've made minimalist collages. The collages are in the form of landscapes and still-life, or were created as a result of experimentation with forms, textures, and colours.
My style is heterogeneous since collage and painting are very different, but they have one thing in common: they soothe. I have heard this term often from my fans and believe that it best describes the nature of my work. When I'm bored of painting, I make collages and vice versa. One style is a temporary escape from the one.
It is my opinion that observation is the most important thing. I am attentive to all I see, including the environment, architecture and objects. All this is reflected in my work. In my works, you do not see a human , however, we are able to feel the human beings in hedges that have been cut or in a cup left on the table."
