Art collages - The CreativeMindClass Blog
In the afternoon of Sunday, I discovered Olga posting stories on Instagram of my childhood neighborhood. In Warsaw's concrete jungle is a less-known and holy green space. I often visited it during the summer months to gaze at gorgeous old pines and take a breath of fresh air within my urban lung. In her tale, Olga visited this area on her first trip, however she also got mesmerized by one of the oldest gardens in Warsaw. In the near future, I am sure she'll create an inspired Boernerowo painting.
We inquired with Olga about her process for creating her minimalist collages and artworks of human-shaped landscapes.
"My name is Olga Szczechowska, and I'm living in Warsaw. Since the age of a youngster, I've been drawing and painting often. I attended an art high school and was a student of Painting as well as Cultural Studies at the University of Nicolaus Copernicus in Torun.
I'm a designer, artist, and illustrator occasionally graphic designer. Through my work, I examine the interplay between humans and nature, paying close attention to how we influence the natural world around us. Through observing trimmed hedges as well as decorative plants and well-designed home gardens, I am capturing the eerie environment that surrounds us."
"For some time, I've created minimalist collages. The collages are drawn from landscapes, still life, or are made as the result of explorations with textures, shapes as well as colours.
My style is heterogeneous as collage and painting are very different, but they share one thing in common: they soothe. I have heard this term repeatedly from my viewers and think is the best description of my art. When I'm bored of painting, I create collages, and vice versa. A certain style can be a brief way to escape the different.
It is my opinion that observation is the most important thing. I carefully observe everything I see, including the environment, architecture and objects. The result is my work. In my works, you are not able to see the person, but you get the feeling of human presence in trimmed hedges or in a cup left in the kitchen table."
