Artist Vlog - Riso Chan

Riso Chan talks about accepting her true, sensitive self through her art work:

My work is extremely emotionally charged. My work is based on portraits which depict the emotions I am feeling. I have always been a sensitive individual. Since I was a child, it has been something that made me feel uncomfortable , and I would try to put it down. (...) When you get older and realize that everything is fine and everybody feels differently. I decided to use my emotional energy that I carry into my daily life and start painting. I draw on it to stimulate my creativity and to spark the imagination of others. It's amazing that the thing I had been striving to get rid of all day suddenly I put it down on piece of paper and seemed like a great release. It is now an area where I am able to utilize this feeling, and I can utilize these feelings as well as joys, sorrows and feelings and put them on paper. This was a truly amazing experience and brought me to a state that was filled with gratitude. It began to resonate with lot of people too. I was opening to putting ideas on paper I'd did not think of previously. Instead of trying to be like other artists who were already "made it" I listened on what I would like to express and who I am as a person. I accepted something I did not like about me and realized that it was actually my greatest strength. I am really happy being the most sensitive me.
