My background
My name is Ekaterina Boguslavskaya. I grew up in Russia.
I studied in Moscow However, I spent my summers in the countryside.
There was no hot water The house was heated with a furnace, and the neighbors raised goats and cows. Wonderful times! In addition to nature and bikes I was obsessed with cartoons. All my peers became adults and stopped enjoying cartoons. But I did exactly the opposite! It was then that I realized that it would become my preferred thing to do. This is how I ended up in film school in Moscow, Russia.

My style
My drawings should always bring out some deeply emotional emotions. As if you are sitting in front of the fire after a day of skiing in the woods.

My method
I love the process of drawing. It has something in common with meditation. When I'm working I can see it getting dark and dark. I may also become hungry, but nothing really matters while I'm in the process.

Now I am employed in the industry of animation and illustration... and I even design board games. I truly love my job.
I've always been drawing a lot. However, it began to look better when I graduated. Because I began to decide what and how I draw.

My suggestions to doubtful visual artists
Find something you love and love about it. Do your best to not listen to the opinions of others when you don't appreciate what they're doing. Everything will work out! You will meet people who are going to appreciate what you've done.

My technique
I sketch almost every thing on my iPad in Procreate. I sometimes finish an item with Photoshop.
The iPad really improved my life. Now I work in bed, in libraries, in cafes. I choose a place to work, I wander around and don't just sit in front of my computer. The iPad is an amazing tool that combines classic drawing and drawing on computers.

The iPad is loaded with great brush brushes. For example, I bought watercolor brushes in "The Watercolor MaxPack - Brushes for Procreate". It is a joy every time I try these brushes. They are as close to real watercolors as they can get.

A few words about how I do my work
I try to make an outline sketch of objects. Since I find hard lines harsh and cold.
Sometimes I make my shadows cold bluish with the multiply setting. Sometimes I employ overlay. But I don't understand that much about it.

Procreate offers some excellent blur settings. Try the settings! There are several kinds of them, which are very effective. The majority of the time, I do it with classic art materials, either on paper or canvas.
I'm still searching, still studying my subjects as well as trying to come closer to my image that I enjoy by doing personal projects.

Information about the Teriberka series
I went there after my trip (to Teriberka). Russian North, the Arctic. The town was once built ships to take a great deal of fish. Today, it's a little abandoned.
Google it, please! It's beautiful.

I'm always drawn to the North.
I love the people, the animals and the million of shades of the moss. Tiny berries contain loads of vitamins, more than any tropical fruit. It's very impressive.
Northern rock formations look similar to the skin of elephants! These are the feelings which I have tried to portray through the photos.

The Tiny Things series
The idea for this project came to my head as I was tired of my job, the flu, and the urban environment.

I bought the macro lens and headed to the woods. What a stunning beauty was under my feet! Everything was stunning. It gave me lots of energy to create. This is how the project was born.
Whatever happens, there is a miracle that is right there!

How can I plan my time for work?
It is a challenge to control your time and relaxation, to say no to offers that are not particularly suitable. Also, to commit to lots of tasks, in order to stay afloat and never get bored of doing what you love. All this I am still trying to master.

Concerning the blocks to creativity
The tough part is the process itself and sometimes the process doesn't come out as expected. It's not what I like about the outcome. This means you'll have to suffer for up to eight hours and get angry. Then, a few days after, you can redo the task in just an hour, and it looks great. What's that? Magic.

A few tips on how to overcome the creative blockages
If you are faced with a particular kind of work to do, you should not get up immediately to draw (if you can). Allow your mind to think on the side while busy doing other things. It's the way I see that the most effective solutions will come.

My view of my work
If I were to grade my work, I'd never rate myself an "excellent". It's extremely exhausting and makes me am a slave to myself. But on the other hand it pushes me forward.
Drawing is like a great adventure!
If you have tickets for a destination, and you already know something from Google, something will surprise you right on the spot. So far, it seems like a cool adventure to me.

There are other works by Ekaterina on her website and look out for an extension of this series on Instagram , Artstation or Behance.
